Monday Lent Four

“Your love, O LORD, for ever will I sing; *
from age to age my mouth will proclaim your faithfulness.
For I am persuaded that your love is established for ever; *
you have set your faithfulness firmly in the heavens.”
Psalm 89, Monday Lent Four, Morning Prayer, the Daily Office Book, Year One

I believe love transcends all things. I believe God is love and the source of all love. I also believe that without humans love doesn't exist, as relationship is complicit for our experience of love, first from its source, God, and then as something communicated between us. Love is the deity within us, within the reality of our hearts and in the acknowledgement of it in our minds. We can’t realize the fullness of our humanity without the realization of Christ within us. In the fullness of time Christ will be fully restored in us, and we in Christ. Whenever we create space for love in our lives, we create willing space within ourselves for Christ, answering God’s great desire and longing for us to know the joy that only loving can bring. Suffering is one of life’s givens, impossible to avoid and more so easily to deny. Denying suffering denies us the opportunity for healing by loving through our suffering, which is enduring the inevitable suffering, by maintaining our love and relationships regardless of our suffering, which by love’s power, ultimately holds the promise of joy. I may fail it. You may fail it. But, love "is established for ever", it never fails; we just choose not to live it and give it.
